JYP Entertainment blasted by Redditors following KG's contract termination

VCHA’s KG has disclosed her exit from the group and additionally announced her intention to file a lawsuit against JYP Entertainment, citing abuse and mistreatment.

In an Instagram story, she shares how the actions of staff members have negatively impacted her mental health, leading to circumstances that she claims resulted in a member attempting suicide.

"Yesterday, I filed a lawsuit because I have decided to terminate my contract with JYP Entertainment and exit VCHA after experiencing incidents of abuse and mistreatment by certain staff members. I feel it was not a good environment for my mental health and I apologize if my leave disappoints any of you. I am not in support of the working and living conditions that led a member to attempt suicide. Nor do I support an environment that encourages eating disorders and has caused members to self harm.I made this decision back in May and am still waiting for release from my contract. I am worried for the girls who remain in VCHA, my friends, who I truly love and care for. I also realized if I remain at JYP Entertainment, I am not able to become the artist I aspire to be, as I really enjoy songwriting and production. I have accumulated a massive amount of company debt, while being paid very little for the intense work and extreme limitations on our personal lives. Although such incidents occurred, there were also beautiful moments."

Following JYP's good reputation usually when it comes to treatment of their idols,  redditors have cast doubt over that stature.

"This issue just reminds me that there is never a good Kpop company in terms of treating their artists right, even though JYP has always been thought of as a company that takes some actions towards helping their idols with mental issues. Unfortunately, I don't think that this will change a thing in the Kpop industry. No matter what happens, I hope the other VCHA members and KG will be okay"

"I knew JYPE wasnt great but I'll admit, as a fan of some of their groups, I bought the hype that they at least tried to be better than other big companies. Seems that isn't the case."

It was disclosed that the lawsuit spans 77 pages but has been condensed to four pages. In this document, KG details incidents of members suffering injuries, being compelled to sing despite being unwell, experiencing verbal mistreatment from staff, being denied food and water, undergoing constant surveillance, facing enforced residency contrary to contract stipulations, enduring a demanding schedule of eight hours daily while being pressured to work up to 14 hours, suffering from a lack of sleep, receiving sub-minimum wage compensation, and accumulating a debt of $500,000 (with further information to be uncovered as I continue to review it). Moreover, a member reportedly attempted suicide by ingesting 42 Nyquil pills; when JYPE was alerted to this, they dismissed the matter, claiming that eating disorders were prevalent and downplayed the incident.
